Nikki Kahl is an author, illustrator, and multidisciplinary artist whose work is shaped by film, visual art, music, design, and technology.

Her background includes fourteen years of professional film editing, formal study in screenwriting, cinematography, production design, charcoal drawing, comics illustration, and comics writing, together with years of classical performance and composition. From those disciplines came a particular manner of working: scenes are composed as much as written, with close attention given to character, atmosphere, movement, rhythm, and subtext.

Professional work in editorial and AV technology has further informed the visual side of the craft, particularly in matters of color, contrast, image reproduction, and print production.

The Neverland Wars, the first book in The Shattered Shadow trilogy, is the undertaking in which these disciplines most fully converge. Written and illustrated by Nikki, it carries the same cinematic and psychologically driven sensibility through its prose, artwork, and physical design.
